Sirimavo  Bandaranayake  specialized  children  hospital  -  peradeniya

Sirimavo Bandaranaike Specialized Children Hospital (SBSCH) is the second paediatric specialized hospital in Sri Lanka. The concept of construction of this hospital belongs to former prime minister her Excellency lady Sirimavo Bandaranaike. The Austria government has funded for this hospital as a gift of 80th birthday of her Excellency lady Sirimavo Bandaranaike in 1996.

The foundation stone had been laid on 28th October 1996 and the phase one of this hospital has been opened for services in 6th November 2005 by former president her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunge and the foundation stone for second phase had laid in same day by herself. The phase two has launched for services in 2014.

SBSCH is situated in very pleasant environment in Sri Lanka. There are many world famous destinations around it such as Royal botanical garden, University of Peradeniya, Hanthanamountains and the river Mahawali.

As Sri Lanka’s second multi- speciality paediatric hospital, SBSCH was set up to mirror reputed hospitals in the region which offers advanced medical technology and expert medical care for children. We cater children under 14 years of age.  

There are 21 paediatric sub specialities are established in SBSCH.
